There’s a number of factors that make a café go from good to GREAT and Espresso 155 in Ascot Vale have really encompassed all of them.
After recently changing owners, the business is now family-run with a big focus on awesome food, great coffee and EXCELLENT customer service.
Nestled amongst the bustling shops of Union Road, Espresso 155 boats a big spacious interior and a gorgeous outdoor courtyard making it the perfect spot for summer dining.
Their menu includes breakfast and lunch and comprises a range of tantalising and unique dishes with a few of the favourites included as well. We tried out three dishes recommended by the staff which were the 155 Eggs, the Brekky Pizza and the Corn & Zucchini fritters with a poached egg. All meals were presented beautifully and were delicious. The stand out had to be the Corn & Zucchini Fritters and the use of Tirokafteri (a Greek cheese spread) was a VERY welcomed addition to the plate and took the dish to another level. All eggs were poached perfectly and we loved that we also got the option to choose what kind of bread we wanted from gluten-free, sour dough or multi-grain without even asking.
For coffee we tried their almond milk and were very pleased to see they were using the Milk Lab brand which is the absolute best when it comes to great taste. For the coffee bean, Espresso 155 use the Lion Tamer from Reverence coffee roasters and it was lovely and smooth.
Aside from having great food, coffee and a great location, the service was also fantastic and we know how important that is here at The Melbourne Diaries. We were greeted with a smile and seated straight away. We were dropped water to our table instantly and the waitresses were polite and prompt in their service. The owners are also heavily involved in the business and take their time to have a chat with you. They are also kid-friendly with plenty of space and offer high chairs for the little ones.
If you don’t have time for a sit-down meal, Espresso 155 also offer great healthy takeaway options from their cabinet including freshly made salads and yoghurt cups with muesli. They also have a range of delicious muffins made in-house and a few other pastries and sweets.
Our experience at Espresso 155 was a memorable one and it ticked all the boxes. We can see this cafe fast becoming one of the go-to places in Melbourne as it continues to produce such great food and coffee. They are also in the process of offering their spaces up for functions and that courtyard will be a sought after spot in the summer time. We have listed the details for you below to get in touch.
