Alex Ward // No Flirting-The Melbourne International Comedy Festival
April 2 @ 12:00 am - April 21 @ 12:00 am
Ever had a funny thing happened whilst dating? Like an awkward moment with your mum perhaps or having to deal with someone who tries to flirt with your girlfriend?
If your answer is yes, then this show is perfect for you!
Hilarious comedian Alex Ward returns on stage with an hour of laugh out loud skits that are sure to tickle your funny bones and maybe, just maybe, heal your wounded heart.
A regular on the Melbourne Comedy scene and a writer for Network Ten’s ‘The Project‘, Alex originally hails from Brisbane and is currently in Melbourne with her show, aptly titled “No Flirting” as make no mistake, you may flirt with her, but she doesn’t flirt back.
During the show, Alex shared her real life experience dealing with jealousy while dating, the awkward banters, the weird moments you can have with your mum when she tries to warn you about drugs, and even shared some photos someone sent to her girlfriend, in a futile attempt at flirting.
She was very skilful in weaving a narrative, concocting a mixture of funny anecdotes and real life stories, but perhaps she was more impressive for being cool, calm and collected even when she’s discussing topics such as gender equality (or inequality), all with the aid of a full range of resources – sound effects, screenshots and video footage.
At the end, we left the room still giggling and even caught up with her, shared a few more laughs together and took a selfie.
If you’re up for some comedy this month, do not miss Alex Ward’s “No Flirting”, at the Trades Hall in Carlton for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival until the 21st of April.
