Miss Ping’s // Doncaster

How far are you willing to go for authentic Thai cuisine? We asked this question this week as we braved a heavy downpour and equally heavy traffic travelling 4 kms and almost an hour and 5 minutes to Miss Ping’s, a newly-opened Thai eatery in Doncaster’s Westfield. And I must say, we weren’t disappointed.

Armed with an empty stomach and brimming anticipation, we were greeted by Cecilia, the restaurant’s ever-smiling manager who immediately showed us the menu and their house specials.  We certainly appreciated the assistance with over 100 mouth-watering dishes to choose from, we could’ve taken all night just selecting our entrees.

We started our meal with Betel Leaf with crispy toasted coconut prawns, salted caramelised peanuts and chilli, and Som Tam, which is basically pickled papaya with caramelised grilled pork skewers. These starters were perfect to whet any appetite and will leave your taste buds begging for more. For mains, we had Pineapple Fried Rice, a delectable concoction of seafood and spices on a bed of wok-tossed fried rice, served in a carved pineapple which is pretty as a picture!

But the dish of the day for us was clearly Prik Khing crispy pork belly. Soft, succulent and crispy caramelised pork belly with string beans, chilli and a sauce to die for. We then washed everything down with a glass of refreshing Watermelon and Lime Freeze and Phuket Paradise, a drink that made us reminisce of our time in Phuket, lazing under the sun with sand on our backs. We then capped the meal off with delectable Roti banana and Sweet Sticky rice with taro for dessert.

And if the food is not enough to lure you in, the décor at Miss Ping’s is pure eye candy. Quaint, modern and very chic, the neon lights accentuate the kind of experience one would have dining here – an explosion of colours, taste, and flavour. Plus, it is totally Instagram worthy!

Miss Ping’s is located at the Westfield Shopping Centre in Doncaster, and is open daily for lunch and dinner. We would highly suggest you book a table because judging from our visit on a rainy Tuesday night, this place is quickly becoming word on the street and without a booking, you could risk the chance of missing out!
