You know when several people recommend a place to you that it’s going to be good and after reading only 5 star reviews of Wat The Pho, we were excited to try it out.
Wat The Pho is a family owned business run from their home in Caroline Springs (how is that for an epic business idea?!). Because of this, they only offer delivery and it is the perfect excuse to take a break from cooking for a night but still feel like you’re eating a healthy home cooked meal.
With busy lifestyles it is often a battle finding healthy takeaways when we just don’t have time to cook and this is where Wat The Pho tick all the boxes. Derived from Vietnamese cuisine, Pho is a popular broth style dish that is simple yet full of flavour. It is quite often seen as a healthy dish, and even made better by Wat The Pho who use NO MSG and fresh high quality ingredients.
On trying out Wat The Pho, we ordered two chicken Pho ($12 each). One with the option of zoodles (zucchini noodles) and one with Pho noodles. The option for zoodles at no extra charge is a real bonus for those who are wanting something extra light and you can also opt to add more meat for $3.
We also couldn’t look past the lemongrass rice paper rolls ($6.90 for 2) and we ordered the kids rice paper & spring rolls ($7.80).
We ordered at about 5pm and the food arrived just after 5.30pm. Everything was packaged in biodegradable containers and we loved that all the components were separated so we could put it together ourselves, which also kept it warm and fresh.
The broth was still the perfect temperature when it arrived so we immediately added it to our bowl of chicken and noodles. We then topped it with alfalfa sprouts and fresh herbs. This part actually added more excitement to the dish as you played around with your presentation.
The dish was perfectly balanced and everything tasted fresh and healthy. The chicken was moist and the zoodles were a huge hit as the healthier option although the noodles were more filling. It was the perfect meal for a cold winter’s evening and a generous serving.
The rice paper rolls were outstanding. They were full of flavour and the accompanied sauces were a great match. The rolls themselves were really large and you could easily eat two of them and be full.
The kids meal was also a hit and the spring rolls were lovely and crunchy on the outside and full of flavour. They were demolished quickly.
Overall, we could definitely see what all the fuss was about for Wat The Pho because it ticked all the boxes for convenience, affordability and quality food. With never ending busy schedules for most people these days, you can’t look past the option for healthy, fresh and delicious meals delivered to your doorstep in the nick of time. We loved that we felt satisfied but not heavy after demolishing our food and can’t wait to try more. We just hope they have enough space in that home kitchen for the destined popularity!
