Broadway, Westend and international sensation STOMP kicked off their Australian tour last night with the opening night lifting the roof off Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre.

Nothing short of outstanding and unlike anything we have seen before, STOMP creates musical magic without a single word spoken.

Eight performers from all over the world work in unison to create music from mundane everyday objects like rubbish bins, shopping trolleys and giant rubber tyres.

The 90 minute show is full of incredible energy and mind blowing sounds, accommodated with hilarious comedy along the way showing the powerful affect of body language and facial expressions.

We were left in fits of laughter through many scenes of the show and astounded in others. Although the whole show was captivating, a standout scene was when all eight members stood together in the dark and used Zippo lighters to create the most mesmerising display of harmonious percussion leaving everyone in the audience in awe.

With epic choreography, rhythm and theatre,  it is clearly evident that a lot of hard work has gone on behind the scenes to produce the level of skill shown on stage.

This is truly a show that has to be seen to be believed. Don’t miss out before it leaves Melbourne this Sunday before heading across Australia.
